Production
The sustainability and health safety of our candles is a priority. For this reason, we use the highest quality natural raw materials to produce our candles. Without any other chemical additives that modify the color of the wax or its properties. We only use the highest quality raw materials, from verified sources.
WAX
The basis for the production of SO.SLOW candles are natural vegetable waxes - coconut, soy and rapeseed. In our candles you will never find paraffin or other natural wax substitutes that are commonly found in conventional candles. Paraffin is a by-product of the oil industry, which when burned releases harmful substances such as benzene and toluene, which can pollute the air indoors. In addition, soot is formed, which can irritate the respiratory tract. At the same time, we do not use chemical additives that modify the consistency, appearance, smell or other properties of the wax.
Coconut wax: Is made from coconut oil, which is obtained by pressing the dried pulp of coconuts.
Soy wax: Is obtained from the best quality soybeans and is made from soybean oil through a complex technological process.
Rapeseed wax: Is obtained from rapeseed oil, which is extracted from rapeseed seeds.
All of these waxes are biodegradable, burn clean without emissions or soot, and retain their fragrance well. They also have a lower melting point, which ensures a gentler and slower burning of the candles. All of the waxes we use to make our candles are naturally hypoallergenic, but people with allergies to specific ingredients, such as canola, soy, or coconut, should use them with caution.
Scent
Instead of synthetic fragrances, we only use essential oils and natural fragrances produced by maceration of herbs, flowers or plants.
The scents you will find in our candles come from the French city of Grasse, which is a global center for the entire perfume industry - the most important companies providing fragrances to all commercial brands from around the world are based here.
We always select fragrances for the current season personally, directly from the manufacturers. The ability to see and control the materials used to make the fragrances and the production process itself is an important matter for us.
Wick
We only use natural cotton wicks made from organic cotton or wooden wicks made from high-quality rosewood. Our wicks do not contain added chemicals such as lead and other heavy metals that are often present in conventional candles.
The organic cotton wick is unique in its purity and sustainability. Since it does not contain chemicals or synthetic ingredients, it does not produce harmful substances when burning, which guarantees a clean and safe flame. Its natural composition promotes even burning of the candle and minimizes smoke. It is environmentally friendly because it comes from renewable resources and is biodegradable.
We use wooden wicks for their unique properties. Wood burns more slowly than regular cotton wicks, so your candle will last longer. They reach a higher temperature during burning, allowing the wax to burn all the way to the edges and also releasing the candle's scent more intensely. Their flame is unique, giving the candle a pleasant atmosphere and crackling softly as it burns. It is environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
Packaging
In addition to selecting individual ingredients, we also try to reduce our environmental impact when we pack our products and orders.
We use recyclable materials such as glass, aluminum and paper for product packaging. Some of our candle containers are purposely designed to be reused as glasses or mugs. We also pack our candles in cotton bags that can be reused at home.
Our online orders are packed exclusively in recycled second-hand boxes – we never buy new paper boxes. This way we try to extend the life of materials that should have ended up as waste. At SO.SLOW we also avoid plastic. If you find plastic, for example in packages as filler, it is also second-hand.
